Just install 3 AAA batteries (sold separately), and turn it on. It has an automatic 6 hours on, and 18 hours off timer. Each time the gentle glow of the battery powered candle lights the lantern, you will see the message as hope to look for signs from heaven, that your loved ones are there safe and sound.
